Unlocking Supply-Chain Talent
Supply Chain Talent is the Missing Link in the Race for Supply Chain 2020
Recently, I have been speaking about the global supply chain talent shortage in countries with over a 30-percent unemployment rate. The discussion of the lack of supply chain talent in countries where the attendees are struggling to find high-paying jobs feels awkward. For many, it almost seems surreal. They are fighting so hard for jobs for their families and friends. They are consumed by the fight. To hear someone talking about a talent gap in a field of high-paying jobs with good benefits is difficult for them to conceive. But, it is true.

Many Baby Boomers Look to 'Redefine' Retirement: Stay in Workforce in Some Capacity
Each day, another 10,000 Baby Boomers turn retirement age. Their eventual retirement will have an impact on the job market, candidate pool and economy. While past predictions had the mass exodus underway by now, that's not happening. In fact, a significant percentage of Baby Boomers are not leaving the workforce just yet.

Supply Chain Expertise Exists Out There, But Do You Want to Pay for It?
I call attention to a misconception among business reporters and analysts concerning the lack of expertise in the supply chain arena. A recent Wall Street Journal article The Hot New MBA: Supply Chain Management is making the rounds of various Logistics blog circles. Basically, the article tells us that there are not enough experienced logistics and Supply Chain professionals to go around. And that universities are ramping up to offer courses that will help business fill the gap. This, of course, is nonsense.
