American Express Survey Finds Optimism as We Move Into 2013
The latest American Express Spending and Saving Tracker reported that 39 percent of Americans are optimistic going into the new year, compared to 35 percent who said so going into 2012. Ten percent report they are "unconcerned" going into 2013, compared to 6 percent who said they were "unconcerned" a year ago.
Holiday Retail Sales Expected to Top Those of Last Year By More Than 4 Percent
Eager holiday shoppers helped drive retail sales upwards in November, helping boost sales in the first half of the holiday season. According to the National Retail Federation, the world's largest retail trade association, November retail sales (excluding automobiles, gas stations and restaurants) increased 0.8 percent seasonally adjusted from October and increased 4.4 percent unadjusted year-over-year. With this news, NRF is still expecting holiday sales to grow 4.1 percent over last holiday season.

Some 19 percent of consumers plan to spend more or substantially more (5 percent) on holiday gifts this year versus last year, according to the ICSC-Goldman Sachs 2012 Holiday Spending Intentions Survey. This is the highest percentage of consumers reporting they intend to increase spending over the previous holiday season since the International Council of Shopping Centers began asking the question in 2004.

APL Logistics has opened its first Quality Assurance Centers in Bangladesh, in Dhaka and Chittagong. The company has a 30,500-square-foot center in Gazipur, Dhaka, along the Dhaka-Chittagong highway.
