Source Smarter: Cross-Company Consolidation Generates Savings While Reducing Risk.
Challenge: An $8B Aerospace & Defense manufacturer identified that it was sourcing the same or similar specialized fasteners from many suppliers across every division, reducing its ability to attain volume-based discounts and increasing supplier risk and management burden.

Adding App Layer Security Into the Supply Chain
Today's complex and connected supply chain translates into quick communication with partners. At the same time, it creates huge opportunity for data leakage and security issues that need to be addressed proactively in supply chain systems.
Supply Chain Focus by Hospitals Is on Cost of Devices
U.S. hospitals spend tens of billions of dollars annually on high-tech surgical implants. But the supply chain for the devices is anything but high-tech. And that drives up costs both for hospitals and implant makers.
Retailers Have Gravitated Toward One Type of RFID Tech, But Is That the Best Strategy?
Retailers that have rolled out RFID have traditionally used handheld readers. However, some are starting to use exit-monitoring or even whole-store illumination approaches. Smart shelves have yet to take off. The dynamics are changing, which could influence which strategy makes the most sense for a given store. Which strategy is best for you?
Supply Chains Have Finally Found Their Silver Lining in the Cloud
Analyst Insight: For both B2C and B2B, cloud technology is nothing new, but for supply chains the adoption has assumed a more guarded pace. That is to be expected: supply chain professionals are accustomed to operating in a world built on legacy applications and bolt-on point solutions. The promise of the cloud had been elusive, but supply chain systems are beginning to take advantage of the business model changes afforded by cloud solutions. - Guy F. Inventory Control & Service Delivery with Service Parts Management
Challenge: Our client, an aircraft manufacturer, needed a sophisticated parts planning process to support an increased demand for aftermarket parts services. The existing ERP and legacy parts planning systems couldn't meet the needs of an increasingly complex services organization, causing insufficient service levels, low inventory turns, and high levels of obsolete stock.
The Case for Free Trade
The U.S. has seen a substantial portion of its manufacturing base eroded by cheap overseas production. American workers blame free trade. So why should we speed up the process?
RFID Needs to Make Its Case Beyond the Retail Apparel
There is no argument today about the impact that retail/apparel and footwear have had on the passive UHF market. Estimates vary on apparel's share, but it hovers around 70 percent to 80 percent of the total UHF market. And that includes only about 2 percent of the apparel items sold. In our recent research of RFID use among retailers, the retailers indicated an interest in expanding their use of RFID in apparel. And the tag industry that supports retailers is forecasting numbers between 23 percent to 35 percent growth in apparel use, as well. More retailers will be tagging more items in the next few years.
