Third-Party Logistics: The ROI of Letting Go
The path to greater agility and control may lead outside your company. In fact, many midsized and smaller healthcare companies need to learn to let go of supply chain tasks and operations that are better handled by expert third-party logistics providers (3PLs). By focusing on what you do best, and outsourcing critical but peripheral activities to 3PLs, your business is in a better position to experience cost efficiencies that you can pass on to patients.
Government Official Aims for Tariff-Free Automotive Supply Chains in UK
Business secretary Greg Clark has said the UK government will approach Brexit negotiations with the aim of achieving tariff-free access to EU markets for the automotive industry. This was among the assurances he gave to Nissan before the automaker announced the next Qashqai and X-Trail models would be built in Sunderland, the UK's biggest car plant, Clark said.
Consumer Spending Rebounds With Biggest Jump Since June
Consumer spending rebounded strongly in September, rising the most in three months as incomes also improved, the Commerce Department said this week. The 0.5 percent jump in personal consumption expenditures provided momentum for a key driver of the U.S. economy heading into the year's final quarter and could push the Federal Reserve closer to another small interest rate hike.
Why Retail Today Is About Data and Experiences
If retail advisor Doug Stephens is to be believed, the term "store" someday will be remembered as a relic of the Industrial Revolution as our culture and technology enable transactions virtually anywhere, thanks to socially integrated buy buttons, mobile commerce and more. We've already seen a shift in the language of retail away from "stores" to "physical retail spaces," which Stephens told attendees at September's SAP Retail Forum is a better way to describe how retailers should think about their businesses as commerce channels proliferate.

Digital merchandising software company Coates Group has launched a virtual reality (VR) tool from a B2B perspective, allowing brands to physically see and develop new digital hardware and content within their own virtual store.

Millennials Want Companies to Adopt New Identity Verification Approaches
When it comes to sharing personal information, millennials are reluctant. There is a gap between millennials wanting to secure access on all connected devices and their willingness to sharing data, according to a study by Lexis Nexis Risk Solutions. This could be a wake-up call for businesses to find solutions that minimize the amount of data they have to collect.
Omni-Channel Strategy Is Central to Retailers' Success During Holiday Season, Researchers Say
Serendipitously, Christmas and Chanukah fall at the same time this year, which may mean less pain for retail logisticians aiming to get all those packages to customers on time - and to recognize 2016 revenue. And this promises to be a pretty good year for retailers: According to the NRF, retail sales should grow 3.4 percent this year.

Cross-Border E-Commerce Booms in China
Cross-border e-commerce is growing in popularity - particularly in China, according to a new report from market research company eMarketer. By 2020, a quarter of the Chinese population, amounting to more than half of all the nation's digital buyers, will be shopping either directly on foreign-based sites or through third parties such as Alibaba's Tmall Global and JD.com's JD Worldwide, the report says.
Walmart and JD.com Are Launching Three E-commerce Initiatives in China
Three months after entering into a partnership to expand online shopping options for Chinese consumers, Walmart and JD.com have announced three new ways for customers to access Walmart products from around the world. The efforts, which are part of the original strategy announced in June, are officially launching during the run up to Singles Day on November 11. They aim to improve logistics and supply chain functions, cross-border e-commerce and online-to-offline e-commerce services for consumers across the country, the companies say.
The Overlooked Best Practices You Should Adopt to Keep Omnichannel Customers in Your Orbit
It’s a conundrum: Did digital advances create more demanding buyers, or did technology awaken unfulfilled needs? Either way, digitally empowered buyers have turned the purchase process from a straight line — phone to delivery — into a matrix of interactions, using websites, email (or snail mail), social media, and even traditional in-person contact.
