Southwest Airlines, OnAsset Team Up on Asset-Tracking System

Southwest Airlines Co. is now accepting cargo shipments containing the SENTRY 400 FlightSafe device of OnAsset Intelligence, a provider of machine-to-machine wireless asset-tracking systems. The tool supplies location, environmental sensing and monitoring of temperature-sensitive and high-value cargo. Through the use of OnAsset's SENTRY technology, companies shipping with Southwest can achieve full chain-of-custody and quality-assurance tracking on all of the airline's flights, the companies said. The SENTRY 400 is a wireless, personal electronic device which includes multiple sensors for temperature, humidity, pressure, shock, location and vibration. FlightSafe, the vendor's patented technology, enables the device to deploy multiple models of sensing and logic to operate with the necessary intelligence while automatically suppressing its wireless radios to the "off" mode during flight. In addition to completing evaluations by Southwest inspection teams, SENTRY has satisfied the testing requirements of an independent laboratory in accordance with all current regulatory requirements, the vendor said.
