Old Dominion Expands Services to Meet New Importer Filing Rules

OD Global, a division of Old Dominion Freight Line Inc., has expanded its global trade-management services to comply with the new Importer Security Filing (ISF) rules of U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Under Customs' "10+2" initiative, importers and vessel operators are required to provide the agency with additional information about import shipments, prior to their loading aboard ships bound for the U.S. The importer will be solely responsible for filing 10 additional data elements in the ISF, and carriers will be responsible for two new data elements. Importers may authorize a third party with access to Customs' Automated Broker Interface system to file the ISF on their behalf. OD Global is offering to perform that function for its clients. The company relies on experienced trade professionals at origin and destination, as well as Web-based technology, to facilitate communications required by the ISF rule. Old Dominion Freight Line is a less-than-truckload "super-regional" carrier with four operating groups: OD Global, Domestic, Expedited and Technology.
