DHL has launched a guaranteed, weekly service for less-than-containerload (LCL) cargoes moving from Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam to Hamburg, Genoa and Los Angeles. The service is being offered through Danmar Lines, DHL's in-house carrier. The addition taps into key trade lanes for businesses in Vietnam, DHL said. Last year, Europe received some $12.2bn in Vietnamese exports, followed by the U.S. with $11.86bn worth of goods. Key sectors of Vietnam's economy include agricultural goods, apparel, crude oil, furniture, technology and textiles. In the first six months of this year, garment and apparel-related industries alone accounted for $10bn worth of exports from Vietnam, more than a third of the nation's total export trade. DHL Global Forwarding recently bolstered its logistics services to the fashion industry in Vietnam with the launch of Textainers and garment-on-hanger products. The company plans to set up a DHL Fashion and Apparel Center for Excellence in Vietnam.
