DB Schenker Rail Readies New Train Between Germany, Poland

DB Schenker Rail Polska S.A. is planning to offer a new train service between Germany and Poland. Operated in cooperation with DB Schenker Rail Deutschland AG, the new through train known as the Silesia Line will run twice weekly between the city of Seddin in Brandenburg and central business locations in the south of Poland (Silesia). The train will bundle previous products and cut transport times in Poland by roughly one-half, the company said. Instead of the previous time of two weeks, it will run on fixed timetables and spend just seven days in Poland. "The Silesia Line is an important step towards developing an efficient rail network for our company in Poland," said Alexander Hedderich, chairman of DB Schenker Rail. The company acquired the assets of DB Schenker Rail Polska S.A. in July. The venture arose from the restructuring of the former PCC Logistics Group and PTK Holding.
