Maersk Line Inaugurates Asian Import Service Over BNSF Railway


It follows the creation in 2011 of the Daily Maersk service in the Asia-Europe trade, based on highly reliable transportation times and delivery dates. Each of the five new Flagship services features dedicated, non-stop rail transport, with freight arriving at an agreed-upon time. Trains bypass connecting points along the route, increasing service velocity. According to Maersk, Flagship was made possible in part by investments made by the shipping line and BNSF over the last several years. They include rail network expansion, updated intermodal facilities and increased loading capabilities at ports. Three services of Maersk's trans-Pacific import service network - the TP5, TP6 and TP8 - will offer Flagship service, with rail connections at the Port of Los Angeles.
