Data Sharing Between Commuters and City Government May Be Growing Trend
Digital mapping company Esri has announced a partnership with crowdsourcing traffic app maker Waze to help city governments and drivers communicate more efficiently about traffic conditions, including construction delays and accidents. By using Esri ArcGIS (geographic information system) software to connect to a new Waze connected citizens program, cities can share data about the conditions of their roads with drivers, while drivers can anonymously report accidents, potholes and other road condition information.

Macy's Announces RFID Tagging for 100 Percent of Items
Macy's plans to have all items in every store tagged by the end of 2017, according to Bill Connell, senior VP of logistics and operations. To achieve this goal, the retailer is asking all of its product vendors to supply merchandise already fitted with passive ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) RFID tags based on the Electronic Product Code Gen 2 standard.

The drones are expected to make between 50 and 150 life-saving deliveries a day to remote and inaccessible clinics across the western half of the country, according to Zipline, the company behind the technology.

Even models priced below $1,000 can print ever faster, bigger, and at a higher quality, meaning that households may soon choose to invest in a printer and make, rather than buy, more of the products they use, researchers say.
DHL Express Opens Automated Leipzig Sorting Center
To meet the demands of the international markets, DHL Express opened its automated sorting center at its newly expanded facility in Leipzig. The new equipment adds to the German facility's airfreight capacity by about 50 percent, to 150,000 shipments per hour, and enables DHL to handle bulkier and heavier items.
