Global Supply Chain Management: Page 678
What Kind of Exec Do You Need to Lead Your Business in China?
Despite decades of experience in China, many organizations still struggle to identify and select executives who will make a tangible impact there. Companies can do better by focusing on two crucial skills"”an ability to read the external environment and an understanding of what makes employees tick"”and on a tough truth: a generational challenge is making the talent equation more complex.
Retailers: What's Your Strategy for a Digital Transformation of Your Business?
Pinterest boards, QR code walls, showrooming, mobile couponing, pop-up shops, mobile apps, Tweet Mirror, Facebook walls, digital circulars, augmented reality, flash sales"”it's a digital jungle out there for retailers today. As consumers embrace new technologies and services, companies find it difficult to stay current"”and harder still to determine where and how to invest their budgets. It's all too tempting simply to jump on the next new thing (and the next and the next), just in hopes of keeping pace.

Streamlining Outsourcing of Packaging Function
To state the obvious, contract packaging is rapidly evolving. The core outsourced-packaging function is easily understood, but the form and function of the contract packaging organization is a moving target. Decades ago, a co-packer was defined by the machines the company had on the floor.
Back-to-School Shopping Begins, But Sales Volume Slightly Down from Last Year So Far
The back-to-school shopping season has already gotten underway with 29 percent of households reporting that they have begun to shop, according to a special ICSC-Goldman Sachs consumer tracking survey. While the percentage of consumers shopping for back-to-school items at this time of the season is lower than in 2012 (33 percent), it is still higher than in all other years since 2004. Although the season has officially begun, two-thirds of households reported that August is when they will do most of their back-to-school shopping.
How Delphi Automotive Got Real With Its Suppliers
"New business reality." That's an apt way to describe the position of any company that has just emerged from four years of reorganization under Chapter 11 of U.S. bankruptcy law. And it's precisely the challenge that Delphi Automotive faced back in 2009, when it sought to reinvent itself and shore up relations with an army of suppliers.
