Integration of Client-Customer Systems Yields Finely-Tuned Replenishment Success

Challenge: A manufacturer of high precision machined components was unable to meet the stocking requirements of their largest customer. Though their customer had placed their supply management system online their constant changing of requirements made it difficult for the company to keep pace. Their first option was to create a series of complex spreadsheets to help manage the data. Unfortunately, that process required nearly two hours a day to prepare and despite their efforts stock-outs increased to nearly 50% of managed SKU's.

Customized Forecasting & Requirements Planning Optimizes Volatile Inventory Levels

Challenge: The demand forecasting process looked quite different one year ago compared to the streamlined process that our customer uses today. The company strives to maintain high customer service levels; however, reliance on only "green bar" reports for its inventory planning process caused them to be in constant over or under-stock situations. They needed a solution that could manage seasonality and long lead times ranging from 14 to 135 days, provide effective SKU management, improve fill rates and optimize inventory.

Large Natural Gas Producer Saves $1.7M Annually With "ePayables" System

Challenge: One of the largest natural gas producers in the United States reached the point where it was processing over 10,000 invoices/month for its Piceance Basin field office alone. They were unable to process these invoices within the standard 30-day timeframe for payment. "Between late fees, operational costs and strained vendor relationships, our payment processing operation was costing us money," said the client's Team Leader. "This was a major issue for us because we were assessed late payment penalties, and we were unable to take advantage of valuable early payment discounts. This directly impacted the business's bottom line…"

Parts Manufacturer Launches New S&OP Process - Growth & Cash Flow Soar

Challenge: Key inventory planning personnel retired from a parts manufacturer for heavy duty vehicles, and the resulting experience/knowledge void led to costly inventory mistakes. Because the company's cash was tied up in the wrong inventory, its ability to stock the needed products was limited. Over two years, the company launched a new S&OP process to correct its inventory and cash problems.

Optimized Planning Tool Transforms Company, Brings 6x Return on Total Investment

Challenge: Like all manufacturers, our client's value chain behaves in a non-linear fashion influenced by supply chain capacities, straight and over-time labor rates, input/output price curves, etc., making it difficult to focus on the most profitable activities and products. Recently, demand volatility, input price fluctuations with contractual discount curves, retailer pressures, and multiple decision points along the value chain increased the difficulty of conducting business using traditional costing and supply planning tools.

Retailer/Supermarket Company Optimizes Operations via Holistic Approach

Challenge: Integrated optimisation of primary and secondary distribution networks for major retailers and supermarkets represents a very complex supply chain planning problem. Our client has a complex network of distribution centres, consolidation centres and suppliers which delivers a multi-temperature product range to a demanding nationwide customer base. Challenges include tight delivery constraints, complex trunking and consolidation operations, temperature constraints, thousands of vehicle movements and a dynamic ordering profile with variable demands. Before MJC ²'s software was introduced the operation was partitioned into smaller more manageable sections for planning purposes. This led to significant inefficiencies, with poor utilisation of resources and unnecessary empty running.
