GE Appliances, a Haier company, and the union IUE-CWA announced a $1 billion investment by the industrial group in Appliance Park in Louisville, Kentucky. GE Appliances says the company plans to expand high-output production of laundry products, and reinforce its long-term commitment to manufacturing in Kentucky and the U.S.

GE Appliances says the expansion will make Appliance Park America’s largest home appliance manufacturing site, manufacturing dishwashers, dryers, frontload washers and combo washer-dryers.

"Investment in American manufacturing is critical to our economy and our communities," said IUE-CWA President Carl Kennebrew. "Our Union members are proud to manufacture American-made [product from] GE Appliances in Louisville, and this new investment will ensure that our members keep delivering these high-quality products to American consumers for years to come."

“Bringing our laundry and dishwasher manufacturing together gives us a real competitive advantage, with new synergies across our cleaning products and closer connections between the people who design, engineer, and build them,” said Kevin Nolan, president and CEO of GE Appliances.
