Hyundai Merchant Marine Considering Hanjin Route
South Korea's Hyundai Merchant Marine said this week it may submit a preliminary bid for Hanjin Shipping assets used in Asia-to-U.S. routes - a sale that could be key to Hanjin's prospects for paying off creditors. Hanjin, which filed for court receivership on August 31 after its creditors cut off financial support for the firm, put up manpower and logistics systems, five container ships and 10 overseas businesses for sale last week.
AmeriQuest Survey Results Show Confusion Surrounding Procurement
Many purchasing professionals do not have clarity about the purchasing practices of their companies, according to a recent Google survey conducted by AmeriQuest Business Services. Fifteen percent of respondents said they didn't know which department manages procurement, the survey says, despite being directly involved in the process.
Pitney Bowes Survey Finds Majority of Global Consumers Shop Cross Border
More than two-thirds of consumers who have ever made a domestic online purchase have also made an online purchase from another country in the past year, according to an annual online shopping survey by Pitney Bowes, an e-commerce technology company. Singapore (89 percent), Australia (86 percent) and Hong Kong (85 percent) have the highest number of cross-border shoppers, while countries like Japan (34 percent) and the U.S. (45 percent) are still growing in cross-border confidence.

Macy's Announces RFID Tagging for 100 Percent of Items
Macy's plans to have all items in every store tagged by the end of 2017, according to Bill Connell, senior VP of logistics and operations. To achieve this goal, the retailer is asking all of its product vendors to supply merchandise already fitted with passive ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) RFID tags based on the Electronic Product Code Gen 2 standard.
