New Hospital Aims to 'Transform Patient Care' With IPads and Apple TV
No one looks forward to a hospital stay, but the tech amenities at Jacobs Medical Center could make visits more comfortable for patients. With an iPad and Apple TV in every room, patients will be able to control room settings such as temperature, lighting and window shades, the hospital says. They can access games, log into their own social and entertainment apps, and control the TV. The iPad also provides access to a patient's electronic medical records, including information such as medications, caregivers' names, diagnostic data, and upcoming lab work or medical procedures.
U.S. Producer Prices Rose More Than Expected in September, Economists Say
Prices paid by U.S. businesses for goods and services increased more than expected in September, economists said, amid other signs that inflationary pressures may be increasing. Walmart and JD.com Are Launching Three E-commerce Initiatives in China
Three months after entering into a partnership to expand online shopping options for Chinese consumers, Walmart and JD.com have announced three new ways for customers to access Walmart products from around the world. The efforts, which are part of the original strategy announced in June, are officially launching during the run up to Singles Day on November 11. They aim to improve logistics and supply chain functions, cross-border e-commerce and online-to-offline e-commerce services for consumers across the country, the companies say.

The Overlooked Best Practices You Should Adopt to Keep Omnichannel Customers in Your Orbit
It’s a conundrum: Did digital advances create more demanding buyers, or did technology awaken unfulfilled needs? Either way, digitally empowered buyers have turned the purchase process from a straight line — phone to delivery — into a matrix of interactions, using websites, email (or snail mail), social media, and even traditional in-person contact.
Shoppers Will Pay More for Experiences, Retailers Claim
Americans increasingly would rather spend their money making memories - travel, sporting events, concerts, meals out - than on another outfit, retail consultants say. So, after years of choosing the speed and wide selection offered by big-box retailers such as Home Depot or online merchants like Amazon.com, customers are demanding higher engagement if they're going to buy something in a store.
Two Tap Launches Fully Automated Service for International Shopping
E-commerce software provider Two Tap has launched Two Tap Crossborder, a fully automated service that allows consumers outside of the U.S. to order products from American retailers just as easy as buying locally in their own country, the company announced. U.S. retailers can use the service to expand global sales to shoppers anywhere in the world without making changes to their existing infrastructure, Two Tap says.

Amazon Limiting Fulfillment Networks to Existing Merchants Ahead of Holiday Season
In an attempt to deal with potential network capacity issues this holiday season, Amazon is limiting the use of Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) warehouses and services to existing sellers between now and Dec. 19, the company confirmed. This means new sellers would have difficulty using FBA to fulfill last-minute Christmas orders.
Airline Earnings Reports Point to Uncertain Growth Trajectory in U.S. Cargo
Of the three major American carriers to publish third-quarter results so far, only Alaska Airlines Cargo saw its cargo revenues increase, up 3 percent, year-over-year, to $31m - a fraction of its growing passenger revenue, according to earnings reports. Meanwhile, United registered a 4.7 percent decline in revenues, y-o-y, to $224m and, as previously reported, Delta continued its losing streak into the quarter, with revenues falling 15 percent, y-o-y, to $167m.
