Zebra Technologies Agrees to Acquire Motorola's Enterprise Business

The all-cash transaction is valued at $3.45bn. Zebra chief executive officer Anders Gustafsson said the deal will transform the company “into a leading provider of solutions that deliver greater intelligence and insights into our customers’ enterprises and extended value chains.” Motorola’s Enterprise business competes in the areas of retail, transportation and logistics, and manufacturing, selling to approximately 95 percent of the Fortune 500. Motorola Solutions will continue to manufacture and sell voice and data-communications systems for government and public safety customers. Zebra, with 2013 sales of $1bn, is a provider of barcode, printing, asset tracking, and motion and location-sensing technology. An estimated 4,500 Motorola employees are expected to join Zebra under the deal, which will give it some 20,000 channel partners in more than 100 countries.
