Amazon and Taiwanese tech hardware manufacturer Wiwynn have announced a facility expansion in Socorro, Texas, which Amazon says will boost U.S. manufacturing and create nearly 1,000 jobs.

The e-commerce and cloud services giant says the expanded site will help “strengthen Amazon’s supply chain” by supplying U.S.-manufactured server racks.

Together, the companies say they expect to create nearly 1,000 new advanced manufacturing jobs by the end of 2027. Wiwynn’s continued investment supports growing customer demand and will bring total employment at the facility to over 2,500 in 2027, with further growth to 4,000 employees expected at full capacity.

"Amazon’s continued work with Wiwynn to bring nearly 1,000 advanced manufacturing jobs to the U.S. is exactly the type of collaboration we want to see to help strengthen the U.S. supply chain,” said Gary Szilagyi, Amazon vice president of Annapurna Labs. “This investment is one example of Taiwan’s commitment to invest $250 billion in advanced manufacturing into the United States.“

Wiwynn says it supports Amazon’s data center infrastructure by manufacturing and integrating server systems and racks, helping to provide the hardware and capacity needed to support Amazon’s growing cloud infrastructure across the U.S. Amazon says the facility is part of a broader effort to strengthen its supply chain by bringing production of custom hardware to the U.S. and building domestic capacity for Amazon’s infrastructure needs.
