Construction Boom Could Boost Demand for Met Coal
Businesses that transport their goods via the highways, railways or the airways are likely to see an expansion of the nation's infrastructure. That's good news not just for companies that want to move their products in the most efficient manner possible. It may also be good news for a subset of the coal sector that produces so-called metallurgical coal for steelmaking.
UPS to Add Four Weekly Flights to San Bernardino During 2016 Peak
UPS said it will add four weekly flights to San Bernardino International Airport (SBD) during its peak-season rush to accommodate a seasonal surge in package shipments, which grows each year as e-commerce changes the logistics side of Christmas shopping. The Atlanta-based integrator will operate 757 freighters from SBD to its Louisville, Kentucky, hub this December.
Supply Chain Visibility Company MacroPoint Announces $44M Investment
MacroPoint, creator of a multimodal freight tracking network that provides shippers, logistics service providers and carriers real-time visibility into load status, has received a $44m investment from Susquehanna Growth Equity, LLC (SGE). The company says it plans to accelerate investment in product and network expansion, both in the U.S. and internationally.
Channel Tunnel Fundamentally Changed UK Logistics, Report Says
More than a quarter of all goods traded between the UK and Europe, worth around £91.4bn ($113.82bn) a year, come through the Channel Tunnel, a report has found. In its report, "Economic Footprint of the Channel Tunnel Fixed Link," Ernst & Young found that 30 percent of UK exports, worth £43.6bn ($54.3bn), and 22 percent of imports, worth £47.8bn ($59.53bn), to and from the EU depend on the tunnel.
