How to Stop Getting It Wrong: New Developments in Supply and Demand Planning
Deliv Expands Same-Day Service to Four More Cities
Deliv, a provider of same-day delivery on behalf of retailers, is expanding its service area with the addition of four urban centers: Seattle, Houston, northern New Jersey and Washington, D.C.
Leading Companies Evolve, Reinvent Their Supply Chains
In recent decades, companies in sectors from automotive and high-tech to retail and consumer packaged goods have come to realize that their supply chain is much more than the cost of getting products into customers' hands. Maybe the World Isn't As Globalized as We Thought
Back in 2011, in the midst of an intensifying debate about the impact of globalization, author and academic Pankaj Ghemawat voiced a view that was in sharp contrast to the prevailing wisdom on the subject: "We're not nearly as globalized as we think we are."
Is There Really a Skills Gap? Or Just a Skills Mismatch?
A recent survey of 37,000 global employers performed by staffing firm Manpower reported that 36 percent say they're having trouble filling available positions. Of those respondents, 35 percent cite a lack of hard skills or "technical competencies" as the reason, while 25 percent cite a lack of experience and 19 percent say a lack of soft skills makes it difficult to fill available roles.
Supply Chain Transformation Critically Important, But Most Such Efforts Fall Short of Goals
Across almost all sectors and regions, companies face unprecedented disruption. The competitive advantages that once gave companies a defensible position - their product lineup, scale or legacy position - are no longer as secure as they were. Some upstart with a newer and more agile operating model will start taking market share - if it hasn't already.
