It's a Question of Trust

Many of the most successful global companies aren't afraid to spin off large pieces of their operations to third-party logistics providers. The issue is trust, says Brad Wyland, senior research analyst of supply chain management with Aberdeen Group. He talks about the still-growing trend of companies choosing to shed any process that they don't view as a core competency. 3PLs have stepped up with a wide range of services, to the point where there's almost nothing that isn't a potential candidate for outsourcing. Even reverse logistics, with its heavy reliance on customer service, is on the table. Wyland offers some tips on how companies can forge successful relationships with their 3PL partners.
