The rugged touch computer features a new user-facing scan angle, which eliminates the "tilt-and-verify" motion required for a user to see the screen. In the process, it reduces wrist motion and muscle effort. The TC8000 is up to one-third lighter than traditional handheld scanners. It can be used for hands-free proximity scanning, with the image automatically triggered by the proximity sensor, regardless of whether the device is worn in a hip holster, on a shoulder strap, in a cart or in a desktop mount. The handheld computer is built to handle constant temperature swings between extreme heat and cold. Touch-screen technology allows workers to use a finger, stylus or gloved finger to operate the device. In addition, the TC8000 includes the all-touch Terminal Emulation tool, a Mobility DNA application, which allows customers who need to incorporate legacy TE apps to automatically transform their green screens into all-touch intuitive graphical screens, with minimal modification or coding required.
