Mexico's federal government announced August 5 that it will invest MX$37.8 billion ($2.2 billion) in transportation and public infrastructure across Oaxaca, prioritizing roads, bridges, airports and rural connectivity to strengthen logistics and regional economic development.
According to Mexico Business News, the public funding will combine with more than MX$7 billion in private investment along the Pacific coast, to reinforce Oaxaca's role in Mexico's infrastructure, logistics, tourism and industrial expansion strategy, anchored by the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec.

The investment was announced during the "Lázaro Cárdenas Plan: Road Reconstruction" event led by President Claudia Sheinbaum and Oaxaca Governor Salomón Jara. It is expected to generate 113,403 jobs, and is part of a broader strategy to improve regional connectivity, strengthen logistics infrastructure and create conditions for additional private investment.
Supporting projects include the expansion of Puerto Escondido International Airport and continued development of the industrial poles associated with the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, one of Mexico's flagship logistics initiatives.
