UPS is investing more than $2 billion into boosting its international, healthcare and supply chain businesses, as the company looks to protect its network against future disruptions.

According to CNBC, although the investments started in 2024, UPS had not previously disclosed the total dollar amount. The initiative is expected to continue through 2028, with the money set to go toward new and expanded logistics hubs, healthcare facilities and air connections across Asia, Europe and North America.

“These investments are really aligned to one of our big strategic areas of focus, which is creating capabilities to enable our customers, particularly in complex industries, to more effectively run their global supply chains,” VP of international strategy Scott Szwast said.

Recent projects that have received money through the initiative include new air hubs at Clark Airport in the Philippines and at Hong Kong International Airport, and a new operations facility in Ontario, Canada. UPS also used the investments to fund a logistics center in Taiwan, and a supply chain solutions facility in the Netherlands.

Szwast said the broader push reflects how companies are spreading their operations across more markets to avoid putting “all their operational eggs in one basket," particularly as disruptions have reshaped the world's supply chains in recent years.

“They need very agile, very effective solutions to connect these new parts of their businesses," he explained. "They need a lot of optionality and a lot of flexibility, and that’s what we’re investing in."
