A cargo ship has likely sunk off the coast of Turkey after colliding with a tanker loaded with oil products, the country’s Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu said.

The Turkish-flagged Tugberk Imamoglu hit the Alsu at around 3 a.m. local time in the Marmara Sea around 35 kilometers (22 miles) south of Silivri, according to a statement by the Istanbul Governorate.

Rescue teams are searching for 10 missing crew members from the Tugberk Imamoglu, Uraloglu said in a television interview on September 2, adding that authorities had “more or less confirmed” its sinking.

Maritime authorities declined to comment further when contacted by Bloomberg.

The Tugberk Imamoglu was carrying steel sheets and the Alsu was loaded with 2,999 tons of motor oil, according to a statement by the Directorate General for Maritime Affairs. A later statement said the Alsu was empty.
